When Cupid Struck In an Erroneous Era Part I

Erika Rossinni B. Sarmiento

“Don’t look for the right person, instead, be
the right person.” Love stories have been a common topic for a long time now
when writing short stories. Accidental meetings, bumping into each others,
picking up books then meeting of the eyes..What else? Old friends or new friends
having an accidental “illegal” feeling. The shattering of relationships
continues to be a favorite topic. Broken glasses are easily picked up (although
some of us bleed by doing it) but broken hearts are not easily mended.

It was supposed to be a relationship made
in heaven. They were God-centered, full of trust, respect and assurance. Love
never failed. But sometimes Cupid is so naughty, so impish that he blasts an
arrow on the right person at the wrong time (ouch!). Not all love story ends in
the typical “and they lived a happily ever after” manner. Sometimes, it ends up
in a dreadful way, the least expected.

Sometimes before a person can get into a
relationship he must picked the pieces of his soul again. True love is worth
waiting for and true love is worth risking for. One of the secrets of a happy
relationship is not to start it not until all wounds are healed. It’s true, it
takes time. But if at the end of the bridge, that person is still there waiting
for you, then maybe, by that time, you could be together.

But if you have the chance of telling her
how you feel, grab it. If you’re confused of how you feel, tell her. Sometimes
love passed by so quickly, and the only thing you can do by that time is to
wait again.

At the end of every struggle, every person
has to get up and regain the same strength he or she had lost. In love,
pretensions can sometimes help. Pretend it was nothing, pretend you never care.
But I’m sure of this, pretension is TEMPORARY. Sometimes, it’s hard to move on,
but most of the time, we just have to.
